Senior Civil Engineer Project Manager with 10+ years experience:

 

The candidate selected for this position will support the managing partners to oversee the engineering direction for many of the projects within the firm.  They will work directly with a majority of the design and engineering staff, and will be responsible for getting the project started in the right direction, as well as seeing the project through completion in many cases. The position will also require the ability to prepare proposals which may require due diligence, investigation of the site, and understanding its jurisdictional requirements. The candidate may also be involved in marketing efforts to expand our client base and branding exposure. Experience and abilities should include the following:

• Extensive project management experience of civil engineering based projects (land development only) in various market types including commercial, healthcare, multifamily, single family, industrial, institutional, and public-based projects

• Can effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Demonstrates leadership in leading project teams of three to four team members across both disciplines

• Prefer candidates must have adept knowledge of permitting process for Mecklenburg County, City of Charlotte, and surrounding counties, as well as experienced collaboration with local DOT agencies within a project scope

• Advanced civil engineering knowledge-base of all typical design documentation and plan sets, calculations, scheduling, management of project fees, management of personnel, etc

• Candidates should provide project examples indicating strong knowledge of stormwater engineering, roadway layout, 3D surfaces, and advanced understanding of calculations

• Licensure in North Carolina or South Carolina is required

Civil Engineer Project Manager with 7+ years experience: 

​

A Project Manager Civil Engineer is a direct report of the Managing Partners, Practice Area Leaders, and/or Senior Project Managers. They are responsible for leading, directing, and coordinating the functional authority for all aspects of the project throughout the life of the project. They are responsible for the project’s success and profitability, as well as ensuring all work is performed per the approved company standards and expectation of service to the clients. Experience and abilities should include the following:

• Prepares proposals and contracts which include assessment and full understanding of a project’s requirements, scope, process, and valuation of fee(s). Also includes coordination of subconsultants

• Prepares and supervises reports, calculations, design plans, specifications, schedules, cost estimates and other materials related to the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects and refers them to the Managing Partners for final approval

• Coordinates and interacts with local governmental jurisdictions and authorities to clearly understanding permitting guidelines, zoning and project requirements, and ensuring the project complies with all regulatory requirements.

Civil Engineer Assistant Project Manager with 5+ years experience: 

​

An Assistant Project Manager Civil Engineer may be a direct report of the Managing Partners, Practice Area Leaders, Project Manager, and/or Senior Project Managers. This role is intended to be the intermediary between the CE III and Project Manager positions. This role is responsible for assisting the project manager/leader in regards to tasks related to leading and coordinating the functional aspects of the project throughout the life of the project.  This role may consider a more increased role in management on a case-by-case basis, such as the size, duration, or level of complexity of a particular project.  Their goal is to grow, learn, and apply the skills necessary to become a project manager, and share the PM’s responsibility for the project’s success and profitability, as well as ensuring all work is performed per the approved company standards and expectation of service to the clients. Experience and abilities should include the following:

• Ability to manage multiple tasks within multiple projects; organized

• Ability to manage schedules, deadlines, and time

• Prepares and supervises reports, calculations, design plans, specifications, schedules, cost estimates and other materials related to the planning, design and construction phases of engineering projects and refers them to the Managing Partners for final approval

Civil Designer/Civil Engineer with 3-5 years experience (CE 3):

​

A Civil Engineer Level 3 is a direct report of the Managing Partners, Practice Area Leaders, and/or Senior Project Managers. They are responsible for providing a high level of design, engineering, and production within a project.  They are responsible for their production and in some cases oversee the work of other associates, ensuring all work is performed per the approved company standards and expectation of service to the clients. Experience and abilities should include the following:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering

• Coordinates and interacts with local governmental jurisdictions and authorities to clearly understand permitting guidelines, zoning and project requirements, and ensuring the project complies with all regulatory requirements

• Ability to design and layout a standard site plan (i.e. building, parking, driveways, sidewalks, stormwater BMPs) within the Schematic Design/Master Planning phase

• Ability to design subsurface utility layouts (stormwater, sewer, water, etc) and to provide calculations and specifications for utility design

• Ability to specify products and materials used within a project.

• Provide production of the Construction Documentation phase, including all necessary applications, forms, documents, and specifications of the project

• Provides Quality Control for the project

Civil Designer/Civil Engineer with 3+ years experience (CE 2):

​

A Civil Engineer Level 2 is a direct report of the Managing Partners, Practice Area Leaders, and/or various Project Managers. They are responsible for providing production support with a strong capacity for some design and engineering. They are primarily responsible for their production and in some cases oversee the work of other associates, ensuring all work is performed per the approved company standards and expectation of service to the clients. Experience and abilities should include the following:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering

• Possesses limited ability to design and layout a standard site plan (i.e. building, parking, driveways, sidewalks, stormwater BMPs) within the Schematic Design/Master Planning phase

• Ability to design subsurface utility layouts (stormwater, sewer, water, etc)

• Ability to provide calculations and specifications for utility design

• Engage with clients via personal meetings and conference calls and possesses the ability to solve technical issues and other related matters

• Provide production of the Construction Documentation phase, including all necessary applications, forms, documents, and specifications of the project

Civil Designer/Civil Engineer with 1+ years experience (CE 1): 

​

A Civil Engineer Level 1 is a direct report of the Managing Partners, Practice Area Leaders, and/or various Project Managers. They are responsible for providing significant production support with a minor capacity for some design and engineering.  They are primarily responsible for project production, ensuring all work is performed per the approved company standards and expectation of service to the client.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering 

• Limited ability to design subsurface utility layouts (stormwater, sewer, water, etc)

• Limited ability to provide calculations and specifications for utility design

• Possess understanding of site grading and applicability within a design

• Provide production of the Construction Documentation phase
